Senior Cloud Engineer

BlockTech is a high-paced algorithmic trading firm that facilitates global decentralized trading in cryptocurrency derivatives while expanding to new markets. We are growing like never before and we are looking for a Cloud Engineer who wants to join us in this exciting scale-up phase!

What will you do?

As a Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud-based infrastructure and services that ensure high performance, scalability, and security for our trading operations. You will work closely with development, IT, and trading teams to optimize the cloud environment for both automated trading systems and large-scale data processing.

In a nutshell, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Cloud Architecture & Design: Design and implement cloud-based infrastructure tailored for low-latency trading platforms and data-driven applications
• Cloud Management: Deploy, manage, and maintain cloud services such as bare metal servers and networking across platforms like AWS or Alicloud
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop automation scripts and templates using tools like Terraform or Ansible to create and maintain infrastructure
• Security & Compliance: Ensure security best practices and compliance are implemented across all cloud services, including encryption, IAM, and firewall management
• Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Continuously monitor cloud infrastructure, identify bottlenecks, and optimize for speed, reliability, and cost-effectiveness, with a focus on high-frequency trading requirements
• Disaster Recovery & Backup: Design and implement disaster recovery plans, backups, and high-availability strategies to ensure minimal downtime in critical trading operations
• Data Handling: Support big data analytics, real-time data streams, and data warehousing in the cloud, ensuring performance for trading algorithms
• Troubleshooting & Incident Management: Provide tier-2/3 support for cloud-related issues, assist in resolving incidents, and participate in root cause analysis

Experience:

• At least 3 years of experience as a Cloud Engineer in a high-paced environment
• Proven experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Alicloud
• Experience with high-frequency, low-latency trading systems and cloud performance tuning is preferred
• Experience with real-time market data and trading platforms (e.g., FIX protocol, data streaming) is a plus

Technical Skills:

• Expertise in infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
• Knowledge of cloud networking, VPNs, VPCs, and load balancing
• Understanding of cloud security best practices, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and compliance frameworks
• Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and cloud management
• Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect) are preferred
